Accordingly to recent articles in business papers major companies and even governments suffering from massive, distributed denial of service attacks (DDoS). How big this threat is? 

**September 2021** DDoS attack on New Zealand government services caused massive damage. Among targets were the New Zealand stock exchange and post-service. Trading on the stock exchange has been stopped for two full days. And post offices have been paralyzed because of the collapse of computer systems.

Can you survive a DDoS attack by yourself?

The answer is "Yes", only if you're supporting a huge and expensive global network infrastructure with capacity enough to handle thousands of Gb per second. This is a scale of the destructive power of modern botnets, available for attackers.
